This is my additional take on setting up DC++ on your home computer.  Not all that much "new" information.

INSTALLATION & SETUP

1 Once you install the program, you'll need to set up two folders on your hard drive. In one, put all the files you want to share. The second folder is where you will put your downloading or incomplete files.  For example, "My SHN files - Complete" and "My SHN files -incomplete."  It's best not to share the files that you are currently downloading because these are incomplete files.

2 In your client program, you'll need to specify where your shared files are and where you want to put the files that you download.  You can also setup a username, profile and set various settings.

3 Once you're connected to the hub, you can browse files, download, upload (send files), chat or private message. It is rather easy to figure out, but if you need help read the client documentation.  If you've used Napster or Kazaa, you'll get the hang of it.

4 Please have at least two slots open for people to download.  You can adjust this under settings.

5 If you have the space on your hard drive, please leave downloaded shn files in your shared folder so that the HUB will work faster and there will be more shn files to share.

6 Share! Keep those PCs turned on and connected to the internet! For starters every Saturday will be Flaming Lips HUB day.  While you are at the supermarket, or getting stamps at the post office keep the PC on. If you can't, just turn it on at night and shut it off sunday morning or what have you. If you can leave (or afford to leave) your PC on more, please do so.
